RIG360's Checklist to Set Up a Studio

1. Green Screen

In today's day and age, a green screen in a studio is a must. With the advancement in technology, virtual sets have become the new normal. In order to produce live shows, media houses no longer require physical sets to create the look of a newsroom or the visual of a hilltop. All you need is a green screen and a good virtual set and you're ready to go!

2. Lighting

When setting up a studio, lighting is of prime importance. Even though the brightness is no different than that of the lighting in our homes, the quality of the lighting is far apart. A good studio requires high-quality Quartz lamps, Fresnel lenses, and LED lights that can help bring the set to life. Hence, it is essential to invest in good quality lighting.

3. Sound

Good audio and visuals are the souls of a studio. Once your lighting is all set up, the next point of focus is audio. Sound is always used to enhance the video experience. To make sure your audience hears you and not the background noise, it is essential to invest in a high-quality microphone. Kodak's UFH Microphone System and Saramonic's SR-WM4C transmitter and receiver duo are good options to perfect sound.

4. Camera

A 4K or high definition camera is a must for a studio. With the correct focus, it allows media houses to record in the studio with complete digital clarity. No studio is complete without a camera.

5. Production Software

When handling live events, media houses use highly technical production software. This software allows seamless recording of live or recorded events. It gives a live preview of audio levels and visuals while incorporating digital sets or other production techniques to produce technically advanced video recordings.

6. Video Editing Software

Editing a recording after production is essential. Editing software allows editors to correct any discrepancies that might have occurred during recording. From colour correction to audio levels, editing software is important to make sure your videos are on point.

7. Teleprompter

Teleprompters are an anchor's best friend. With the increasing frequency of recordings, anchors have a lot of data and details to remember. Not only do teleprompters help in reducing the number of takes, but they also allow anchors to give their best without worrying about memorising long scripts. A studio is considered technically advanced when one invests in a good quality teleprompter.

8. High-Quality Media Memory Cards

9. Extra battery for light/microphone
